Great Ambiance and A Great Burger

When my little bro comes to visit, he always loves going to the Library Pub & Wine Tavern 🙂 It’s a quaint pub that has the warm ambiance of an old library. Dark wood. Old books. Old green desk laps. Wood tables. It’s all and all great! On my vist this time, I learned that they don’t have a deep-fryer! A very nice touch I must say to a pub 🙂 It shows that they serve fresh food, which is something I am ALWAYS looking for. The menu is small as well which is always a good sign…small menu = high quality food (and usually means REAL food as well!)

I got this wonderful hamburger called “The Library Burger”. According to the waitress, it is the most popular thing on the menu. To be honest, it wasn’t the best burger I have ever had, but definitely good enough to blog about!

The burger came on a fresh multigrain bun with bacon, lettuce and a spicy mayo. It was delish 🙂 It also came with a side salad with a homemade poppy seed dressing. YUMMM!!!!

Sentimental Gifts. Great Food. Wine.

So on August 3, 2014, Evan and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary and it was absolutely lovely 🙂 We have always wanted to try a local restaurant near our hometown, The Ledge’s Inn and we even stayed the night 🙂 It was perfect! As foodies, of course our anniversary celebration will be focused on food ❤

All I can say about the food, was WOW! It was so good. Simplicity is key and so is fresh real food. That’s exactly what we got! The chef was really chill, really young, but oh so talented in the kitchen! We started out with this amazing soup: a vegetable tomato soup with saffron, three crust-inis, and balsamic vinaigrette. So good. 2014-08-02 18.05.19

Then for a palate cleanser (which I have never had in my life) was a raspberry sorbet with cilantro and vodka. I was a bit leary on it at first but man did it ever cleanse the palate!

Our main was a cornish game hen, wrapped in bacon stuffed with shrimp mousse…oh my gosh, SO good! I’m drooling just writing about it. For the side, it was an asparagus and cabbage salad with sweet potato chorizo. It was to die for!

Finally, my favourite, dessert. On the left is homemade peanut butter ice cream on top of yummy chocolate crumb. I swear it tasted so much like a Reese cup…mmmm so good. In the middle was a cute little persimmon on top of a raspberry sauce. To the right was this amazing double chocolate brownie lightly dusted with icing sugar. My fav! I must confess, I am a die-hard chocoholic. I love anything chocolate. This brownie was DOUBLE chocolate! 😛 I savoured every mouth full of that baby and just let it melt in my mouth!

What can I say about this place but thumbs up! We had an excellent stay 🙂 And they even gave us a glass of white wine each on the house! They definitely know how to treat a couple celebrating their first wedding anniversary 😀

Smoked Salmon Sandwich = Fireworks of Flavour in My Mouth

So my husband and I are on vacation for the next week or so and we are using our vacation time to visit the fam which is really awesome 🙂 Me and mom went to Fredericton yesterday, which is about 45 minutes South of my hometown, just to have a day for ourselves and also so I could get something for Evan for our anniversary…I can’t wait to tell you all about what it is! 🙂 We were trying to decide what to eat for lunch…something that was good quality food and a good price. And might I add, I lived in Fredericton for 5 years and they have so much great little local restaurants and that are a good price…its heaven for foodies 🙂 We narrowed it down to Isaac’s Way.

Issac’s Way was recently revamped in the old courthouse in downtown Fredericton and it has such an eccentric warm vibe. There’s paintings from local artists all over the walls which you can buy if you love it and just have to take it home with you. The menu is small which is always a sign that the food is good quality food. And the water comes in a cute old glass milk jug style container 🙂 And at Issac’s way, everything is local and is REAL food…my cup of tea 🙂

We started with a Skinny Dipper which is a mix of raw veggies and three varieties of dips: creamy basil, roasted red pepper pecan and avocado mint. YUM! The veggies were all super fresh too 🙂 When we were half way through eating that, my brother and his girlfriend came along and so we ordered…I ordered the Smoked Salmon Sandwich….heaven ❤ If you love dill and you love the flavour of smoked salmon, order this, don’t even look at anything else on the menu, you will honestly not be disappointed. It came on multigrain bread, with lettuce, tomatoes, pickled onions, this yummy lemon dill spread and heavenly hot smoke salmon…oh, and homemade dill pickles on the side. I also had a side salad with a delicious sweet onion dressing.
